TL;DR: India's Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System (the system behind the 1930 helpline) has saved more than ₹11,158 crore across more than 32.80 lakh complaints through June 30, 2026, per a Lok Sabha reply of July 21, 2026. A February 2026 reply put the amount saved at ₹8,189 crore at end-2025, roughly 15% of the ₹55,649 crore reported lost (our sum of that reply's yearly rows; an indicative ratio on different bases). UPI fraud reached 13.42 lakh incidents in 2023-24 and eased to 12.64 lakh and ₹981 crore in 2024-25.

How much has the 1930 system saved?

When you call 1930 or report at the NCRP, the system alerts banks and wallets so they can put the fraud money on hold. The Government's 'amount saved' is the cumulative sum held since the system began in 2021. It is not the same as money returned to victims. Reported to Parliament and PIB on six dates:

Cumulative amount saved and complaints, as reported by the Government

Each bar is the figure the Government reported on that date, 'more than' that amount. The government's 'saved' means put on hold, not refunded.

The figure has more than tripled in under two years. Two cautions. First, the 2 December 2025 and 31 December 2025 figures differ by ₹1,059 crore while the complaint count moved by only about 59,000, so they may have been compiled on different bases. Second, the July 2026 reply labels the ₹8,189 crore figure as the amount 'marked as lien' for 2021 to 2025, while the February reply called it 'saved'. We treat 'saved' as 'put on hold', not 'returned'.

Against that, the February 2026 reply put reported losses for 2021 to 2025 at ₹55,649 crore (our sum of its yearly rows) and the amount saved as of 31 December 2025 at ₹8,189 crore, about 15% (our calculation, using figures from the same reply). The two figures are on different bases (₹55,649 crore is our sum of that reply's yearly rows; ₹8,189 crore is a cumulative figure), so 15% is an indicative ratio, not a recovery rate. UPI fraud, 2021-22 to 2025-26

As reported by the Ministry of Finance, UPI fraud numbers were given for financial years in a Lok Sabha reply. These are incidents and amounts involved, a separate series from the NCRP.

2025-26 covers April to November 2025 only. 1 lakh = 100,000.

UPI fraud incidents rose from 4.07 lakh in 2021-22 to 13.42 lakh in 2023-24, then fell to 12.64 lakh in 2024-25 (about 6% lower), with the amount involved down about 10% from ₹1,087 crore to ₹981 crore (our calculations). The average incident was about ₹7,800 in 2024-25. For April to November 2025 the figures were 10.64 lakh incidents and ₹805 crore; as that is only eight months we do not compare it with full years.

The average UPI fraud is about ₹7,800, far below the ₹1 lakh threshold of the RBI's bank-fraud table, which we cover in RBI bank fraud data by category. If it happens to you, see how to recover money lost to a UPI scam and how to freeze your bank account after UPI fraud.

What the Government does not publish

There is no official count of digital arrest scams. As of the 25 March 2025 reply, NCRB did not maintain separate data on digital arrest scams. For what to do after one of these calls, see what to do after a digital arrest call, and for recent cases where money was returned, how Indian police are returning frozen fraud money.

How we compiled this data

'Amount saved' and complaint counts are quoted as 'more than' figures from PIB releases, MHA replies and a PIB explainer on the dates shown in the table; only the 31 December 2025 and 30 June 2026 figures carry an explicit as-on date, so the others are labelled by the date reported. UPI figures are from the Ministry of Finance reply to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question 2481 (December 15, 2025). The 15% share, average per incident and percentage changes are our arithmetic.

Yearly NCRP loss rows come from the Rajya Sabha reply of February 11, 2026. The ₹8,189 crore figure appears with different labels in different replies, as explained above; both are official. We could not find an official state-wise table of amounts saved, or digital arrest data, so none is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money has the 1930 helpline saved?

The Government says more than ₹11,158 crore has been saved across more than 32.80 lakh complaints through June 30, 2026. 'Saved' means put on hold by banks, not returned to victims.

Does 'saved' mean I will get my money back?

Not automatically. It means banks and wallets held the funds. Getting them back depends on the case and usually needs a police or court process. The faster you call 1930, the better the chance of a hold.

How many UPI frauds were reported in India?

The Ministry of Finance reported 12.64 lakh UPI fraud incidents with ₹981 crore involved in 2024-25, down from 13.42 lakh and ₹1,087 crore in 2023-24.

Is there official data on digital arrest scams?

No. A March 2025 reply said NCRB does not maintain specific data on digital arrest scams separately.
