TL;DR: In June 2025, ANZ warned of emails impersonating ANZ Premier Wealth, offering "treasury and corporate Kiwi bonds" and claiming they’re protected by the new Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS). That’s false: the DCS (from 1 July 2025) covers up to $100,000 per eligible customer if a bank or deposit-taker fails, but not bonds, KiwiSaver or foreign currency accounts. The emails use ANZ, Reserve Bank and Treasury logos. Delete them.

The scam

From ANZ’s warning (13–14 June 2025):

Scammers love a new government scheme. People have heard the name but not the fine print, so "government-protected" sounds plausible. Here, the fine print specifically excludes what they’re selling.
