TL;DR: Go to infotracer.com/optout, open "Personal Information Opt-Out Requests," enter your first name, last name and state, tick your record and click "Remove Data." Add an email so you get a written confirmation. InfoTracer says requests are processed within 24 to 48 hours. It’s free and needs no account. InfoTracer belongs to a group of public-records sites (including CourtCaseFinder, StateRecords and RecordsFinder) that each need their own opt-out. Recheck every few months, because records can return.

What InfoTracer sells

InfoTracer markets public-records searches: background-style reports that can include addresses, phone numbers, relatives and court or property records. According to Redact’s InfoTracer guide, its records are "assembled out of public records" and refresh from public-records feeds, which also means they can match the wrong person.

Before you start

Step by step

From Redact’s August 2026 walkthrough:

  1. Go to infotracer.com/optout ("Your Privacy Choices") and open the "Personal Information Opt-Out Requests" panel.
  2. Enter your first name, last name and state, then click Submit. Nothing is deleted at this stage.
  3. Check the results table (Report ID, Name, Age, Addresses). Compare age and address history before claiming a record.
  4. Tick "Select Record," then click "Remove Data."
  5. Enter your email and submit. Screenshot the next screen: the confirmation disappears once you navigate away.
  6. You’ll see: "Your request has been received and will be processed within 24-48 hours."

A slide-to-verify box sometimes appears after searching. Drag the handle to the end and click Continue.

Cloaked’s manual opt-out guide describes the same basic route: name, city and state, select the record, submit, then watch for the email.

The sister sites

Redact describes InfoTracer as part of an InfoPay/Accucom group of sites. Each runs its own opt-out, so removing InfoTracer doesn’t remove these:

If you found yourself on InfoTracer, search these too.

Use your state privacy rights if needed

If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law, you can also send a formal deletion request. Redact notes these run on a 45-day clock. Californians can use the state’s free DROP platform to send one request to every registered data broker (how DROP works), and see our state privacy laws guide.

A note on public records

Opting out removes your listing from InfoTracer’s site. It doesn’t erase the underlying public records (court filings, property deeds) held by government offices. See our guides to court records in search results and which records are public. If a background report about you is wrong, you have dispute rights: how to dispute a background check.

Next steps

Work through the US broker list, then recheck in three months. If you’d rather automate, compare removal services. A free email exposure check shows the breach side of your footprint.
