Step 1: Use Google's Results about you tool
- Open the Google app, tap your profile photo and choose Results about you, or go to goo.gle/resultsaboutyou.
- Add the contact details you want monitored (phone, address, email).
- In the US, add government ID numbers such as a driver's licence, passport or Social Security number; Google says the tool then monitors Search and alerts you.
- Review the flagged results and submit a removal request for each.
Step 2: Request removal of specific URLs
If a page shows your personal information and the tool did not flag it, use Google's personal information removal request. Google may decline content that is newsworthy, public-record or freely available, so keep your request specific. This is the "Google removal request" route for individual pages.
Step 3: Remove it at the source
Google's own guidance says removing a result from Search does not remove it from the web. Contact the website, or the data broker behind the listing, and ask for deletion. Start with US data broker opt-outs, people-search site opt-outs and UK, Canada and Australia opt-outs.
Removing a website or page you own from Google
